Polica, is coming to the First Avenue Mainroom November 8. Tickets and show details can be found HERE.
The brainchild of Channy Leaneagh, Polica broke into Twin Cities consciousness in 2012. Over the years, they earned a reputation as one the preeminent synth-pop band in the scene. The band moved out into the wider world, where they generated strong reviews both domestically and abroad.
Polica was a 2016 SXSW showcase participant and has been featured in publications as high profile as Rolling Stone.
For those who have listened to any of their four studio releases and think the band may be tame during live performances, think again. Some bands were made for the studio. Some for live performance. The best do both.
Polica will feature their latest release, When We Stay Alive which is a melding of songs written both before and after a serious back injury disrupted Leaneagh’s life. Instead of dwelling on what she was restricted from doing, Channy channeled her anger and frustration into an exploration of what we call can do when we let go of those things that have harmed us.
Minneapolis Velvet Negroni is will open. A headliner in his own right, his inclusion makes this night effectively a double bill.
