Oh Wonder will be making a stop at First Avenue on Friday, June 3rd, 2016. Oh Wonder, a London based alt-pop duo, have been touring heavily since releasing their self-titled debut album one year after they set out to write, record, and release one song a month for a year! With such determination, it will be exciting to see them live!

Joining them at this show is Lany. Described as a three-piece alternative “dreampop” band from Los Angeles, Lany should prove to put on as good a show as the last time they were at First Avenue, (check that show out HERE)!! LANY has recently toured with Troye Sivan and concluded opening for Ellie Goulding on her UK arena tour while also playing their first headline show in London. Next up the band will be embarking on their first headline tour in May which has already SOLD OUT (dates added and venues extended) and will be performing at Bonnaroo, Sasquatch! Firefly, Outside Lands and several more U.S. festivals this summer.
LANY (comprised of Paul Klein, Les Priest and Jake Goss) happened organically. It began as a group of friends hanging out in a bedroom playing around with a dell computer and keyboard, who very quickly realized that there was something special between them. In just two years they have sold over 40k singles independently; have had several #1s on Hypemachine; built a dedicated and loyal fan base; hit #39 on Spotify’s 100 emerging artists at SXSW; toured with Twin Shadow, Tove Styrke, X Ambassadors and Halsey; performed at Lollapalooza and sold out their first headline run. On top of this LANY has had major backing from Annie Mac, Zane Lowe, Elton John (via his Beats 1 show), Phil Taggert and many more tastemakers.
They came together in the Spring 2014 after Klein had recently moved to LA and collaborated with his old college friends on some ideas. Within days they’d written and recorded two songs and decided to upload them online. An A&R frenzy ensued and soon after they added the blissful “ILYSB” to their arsenal. The song’s mix of emotional directness and universal embrace, both in its lyrics and its melody, connected in a huge way when they put it online resulting in ten million plays on Spotify to date.
This has all happened by the band doing it their own way. Everything has been recorded and produced by LANY themselves in their own apartment. “We’ll record things using a $2 app if that’s what’s to hand. That’s how we roll,” says Klein. They realize what’s important is the song and the chemistry, and they have both in spades. “As long as it’s us three in that room, the music’s gonna stay that way. It’s where the magic happens.” LANY have conjured up some of the year’s most exhilarating alternative-pop songs.
