Repeat, Repeat at the Amsterdam – TICKETS

Mixing the sunny swoon of sixties pop with a dark swirl of Warholian garage rock, *repeat repeat create their own geography, dreaming up songs rooted in the spirit of both coasts. Based in Nashville, TN — where frontman Jared Corder, then-drummer Andy Herrin, and keys/singer Kristyn Corder kicked off the band’s career with 2014’s Bad Latitude — the band looks beyond the borders of their landlocked hometown and, instead, mix California surf culture and New York street smarts into the same tracklist. They’re a blend of bloom, doom, and boom. They’re Dick Dale’s snot-nosed grandkids.

Floral Canyon (their sophomore release) stretches the band’s musical envelope, adding depth, drive, and darkness to the sun-baked, surf-tinged pop music that’s always been their bedrock. Produced once again by Lattimer, the album tackles modern culture (“Plugged In”), rocky relationships (“Mostly”), religious ideologies (“Speaker Destroyer”), and all points in between. Gluing everything together is the band’s melodic, musical attack: equal parts percussive thunder, trembling organ, synth pads, coed harmonies, and wide-ranging guitar parts.

Mae Simpson at Icehouse – TICKETS

Mae Simpson is a singer/ songwriter born in Beaufort South Carolina. From a very early age, she would find herself singing songs that she had never heard, because they were hers. Throughout the years, she has found love in the music that she writes, with passion, soul, and a rawness reflected with each lyric. Today she works with talented hand picked musicians in the Twin cities, hoping to bring soul and female power back to the local music scene.

TCM caught her live show a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. If you like your funk with an extra dose of stage presence – do NOT miss this band. Check out our review HERE

Night Verses at the Amsterdam – TICKETS

Night Verses are heading out on tour with Strawberry Girls across the United States this summer. The band is also gearing up for the release of their forthcoming album, From The Gallery Of Sleep, out June 29th on Equal Vision Records.

Earlier this year, the heavy post rock outfit, shared the news that they would be continuing on as an instrumental band without their long-term vocalist and surprise released their first new music, a 3 song EP, Copper Wasp. Now Night Verses are preparing to release their new full length, From The Gallery Of Sleep, redefining what a progressive metal band can sound like, pushing the boundaries, not only without a vocalist, but by bending the sounds that are “generally acceptable” within a heavy record. Originally formed in 2012, they went on to sign with Equal Vision Records and share the stage with acts such as Converge, letlive., The Chariot and more. While the loss of a vocalist might break other bands, Night Verses’ live show, which they’ve always been highly regarded for, has only grown more intense and dynamic.
