The term “teenage band” usually brings up all kind of bad memories for music journalists but I liked the buzz I had heard about Bruise Violet, and decided to check out one of their first gigs at the Amsterdam back in 2015. And promptly got my face rocked off! Over the next months, I covered them several times and each time they left me with big grin on my face. Those three young women leave it all out there on stage each and every time. Hard, fast, edgy, and full of punk attitude. And you haven’t lived until you hear “Asshole! Asshole! Asshole!” sung by 3 sweet voices in harmony.
The trio – officially now only a 2/3 teenage band – is releasing their 2nd EP “Trophy Wife” with a show at First Avenue’s Entry this Friday 4/7. A few tickets are still available HERE
Judging by their just released video “Talk Shit, Get Hit” they haven’t lost a step despite their now “advanced” age. Supporting them will be another one of my favorite local bands Catbath, Sass, and Joe Davis and the Poetic Diaspora.
