Just a few days after DJ Jake Rudh celebrated 16 years of his Transmission dance nights (and coincidentally 47 years of First Avenue) with a Sixteen Candles themed birthday party one of the bands who shaped the music of the time is coming to First Avenue. The Psychedelic Furs’ North American Tour will hit Minneapolis on Thursday 4/6. A few tickets are still available HERE
Supporting them will be Robyn Hitchcock and of course DJ Jake Rudh. A staple of British music in the 80s the band is led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim Butler on bass. After reuniting in 2011 they continue to tour the world. We had a chance to cover them a couple of years ago, and their show had a magical quality to it. They may not have put out any new music recently (well 26 years recently) but their performance takes the audience straight back to the band’s heyday period.
