SF Rockers The Stone Foxes just release a new 5 song EP “Visalia” named after the rural California town where they wrote the songs and are on a 36 date US tour that will bring them to the 7th Street Entry on 10/25. Tickets are still available HERE
Supporting them will be WTF and John David & the Jerks.
Throughout Visalia, The Stone Foxes mine time-honored roots influences, from blues, country, punk, Americana and their hometown’s psychedelic tradition, and channel those inspirations through their singular sensibility to make righteous, high-energy music that’s both effortlessly accessible and unmistakably personal.
“We grew up on rock ‘n’ roll and deep roots blues, and we dig into that on this EP,” states Shannon Koehler, adding, “We went down to Visalia in central California to write the songs. The band stayed in a little trailer on a cotton farm, pitched tents in the front yard and slept on the front lawn.”
After writing their punchy new songs in rural isolation, the band recorded the rest of Visalia in the urban environs of Oakland, where they worked with celebrated producer and engineer Jay Pellicci (Deerhoof, The Dodos, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down).
The quality of the resulting music makes it clear why The Stone Foxes have been able to achieve a series of grassroots career milestones, including having their tunes featured in such television shows as Shameless, Sons of Anarchy, Ray Donovan, Elementary and NFL on Fox, and in commercials for such brands as Jack Daniels and BMW. The band has played in front of thousands of fans at prestigious festivals including Outside Lands and Voodoo Fest, headlined their hometown’s legendary Fillmore, and supported notable acts the Black Keys, Cage the Elephant, Social Distortion and ZZ Top. They also maintain a strong online presence, with over two million Youtube views and over 15 million Spotify spins. The hard-working band has also found time to launch the philanthropic Goodnight Moon Project to help combat homelessness.
