Kælan Mikla is a darkwave post-punk band from Iceland. Their latest release Undir Köldum Norðurljósum has been on rotation in my collection ever since it came out in 2021. Imagine a cross between bands like New Order, Bauhaus, L.A. Witch, FKA Twigs, and Dream Wife. I know that’s a lot to keep up with, but their music speaks for itself. The Cure’s Robert Smith has even called himself a fan.
I’ve been impatiently waiting for a North American tour since they came on my radar, and it’s finally here! The trio will be on a 29-date tour with Artoffact label mates KANGA opening. They’ll be at Icehouse in Minneapolis on Saturday, October 8th. They are perfect for a Saturday night in October.
Touring with them is KANGA an LA based dark wave artist who can count none other than Gary Numan whom she has toured with several times among her champions.
