South Carolina folk band Shovels and Rope will be making their way to First Avenues Mainroom on the 20th of October in support of their recent album “By Blood.” This husband and wife duo has been making a name for themselves for the past ten years and is known for their raw energy on stage. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Magazine the band says about their new album that it is “It’s more of a big, cinematic-sounding record,” says Trent. “We weren’t afraid to add as much stuff as we wanted whenever to any song and then slowly scrape it away and see what worked and what didn’t work. If there ever were rules for us, there were zero rules on this record.”
Supporting Shovels and Rope will be Cedric Burnside, a blues musician with a long family lineage of plays players. He was nominated for a Grammy back in 2015 under the category of “Best Blues Album.”
