Get ready for 24 minutes of Heartache as Corey Palmer releases his new EP at the Icehouse on 5/13

Last year Minneapolis’ Corey Palmer gave us “This Could Be About Anyone” with his band Lovetrade. Then a serious bout with depression found Corey holed up at his home studio, writing and recording about his spiral. The end result is a sprawling 24-minute –and ironically ambitious– pop song that seamlessly hops around genres and scarily projects Palmer’s manic head-space throughout. Heartache is a lyrical and aural narration that is the product of a near-7-month battle against a mental illness that was he was not supposed to win, yet he came out of this war alive, optimistic, and ready to help guide other like-minded sufferers. The lyrics are serious but are wrapped in a beautiful package of melodies.

Any song of that length and complexity deserves it’s own album, so Palmer is releasing “Heartache” next Saturday 5/13 at the Icehouse. Tickets are still available HERE

Having seen Palmer live a couple of times, this promises to be a very entertaining evening. His sound is deep and complex yet fun to listen to. Supporting the release will be another great local musician, Peter Wolf Crier.
