Get Geeky With Harry & The Potters 7/3 at The Cedar

This is a show for the entire family and trust me when I say you won’t want to miss it! The one and only Harry & The Potters will be taking over the stage at The Cedar Cultural Center on Wednesday, July 3rd for a can’t miss family-friendly event!

What would happen if Harry Potter quit the quidditch team, stole a time turner, and started a punk rock band with himself from an earlier point in the spacetime continuum? The answer is Harry and the Potters.

Since 2002, brothers Paul and Joe DeGeorge (Harry Potter, Year 7 and Year 4 respectively) have released 3 full length albums and played over 800 shows in libraries, rock clubs, art spaces, bookstores, basements, backyards and pizza places all over the world. Their high-energy live show has been legend for over a decade since Pitchfork placed the band in their Best Live Shows of 2005 list noting, “the greatest rock and roll tour of the year took place this past summer in public libraries across America… The Decemberists wish they could litrock like this.”

They are hailed as the founders of the wizard rock, a subgenre of music boasting nearly 1000 bands playing songs about the Harry Potter books. In 2005, they cofounded the Harry Potter Alliance, a nonprofit organization that has pioneered fan activism, and the band was profiled in the 2008 documentary, We Are Wizards. They also appear on a Trivial Pursuit card in Sweden.

Larry Wish is opening up the show. Larry Wish has been composing “bedroom prog music” since 2007 with over fifty albums, including releases on labels such as Orange Milk, Moon Glyph, & OSR. His songs are often melodramatic and existential, exploring daily observations, reflections, interactions, and trying to understand love and life without analyzing either to death.

Larry’s mime show is a celebration of modern musical performance that uses a bit of clowning, comedic drama, and mystery in an attempt to twist the somewhat serious act of experimental musical performance into something playful and fun for all.
