One of my favorite announcements of 2021 was that Bruise Violet are back! Well, they never really left, but I missed their epic shows more so than some others. Like the time they were unleashed on a largely unsuspecting First Avenue crowd at the Tribute to the Replacements. Or the time they played the Pizza Luce Block Party and caught the attention of Metric’s tour bus driving by. You get the idea, so many stories. We will get a chance to close out the year (for me at least) with one of their “full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes” set on 12/30 at the Amsterdam supported by creeping charlie and VIAL. Tickets are available HERE

creeping charlie, composed of sister duo Julia and Esme Eubanks, (later incorporating Harry Miles of Atomic Cafe and Jail! and Jack Malone) released their debut EP ‘Asymmetrical’ in May, 2020, landing high up on NACC, tying with iconic acts like Car Seat Headrest and STRFKR. creeping charlie “makes music for cool older sisters” extending from soft ballads to indie and punk rock. Inspired by the likes of Mazzy Star, Built to Spill, and Nirvana, be prepared to both cry and get sucked into a mosh pit at their shows. creeping charlie is a fresh act in the Minneapolis music scene, having debuted here in the midst of COVID. They kicked off summer 2021 by playing their first show and closed it by headlining Amsterdam Bar and Hall with a crowd of over 350.

VIAL is a Minneapolis-based powerhouse indie rock/punk quartet. Consisting of KT Branscom on vocals and guitar, Taylor Kraemer on vocals and synthesizer, Kate Kanfield on bass, and Katie Fischer on drums, the band blends modern riot “ghoul” and 90’s punk sounds seamlessly to create uniquely powerful music. Their highly-anticipated sophomore LP ‘LOUDMOUTH’ was released July 30th, 2021, on Get Better Records.
