A usually quiet St. Paul was buzzing on Wednesday night with people filing into the Palace Theatre. Chelsea Cutler is on her “The Beauty is Everywhere” tour, and we were lucky to have her make a stop in Minnesota. This was actually my first ever time in this venue, and I was pleasantly surprised. When I arrived about thirty minutes before the show, it was already starting to get packed. This made it a little difficult to get down to the pit entrance. Opening for Chelsea on this tour is the artist Yoke Lore.

Yoke Lore

Yoke Lore’s name is inspired by the term yoke, which means a binding agent. His goal is to tell stories about things that are bound and connected. The first time I heard a Yoke Lore song was probably back in 2022, maybe 2021, when I got the song “Beige” on my Discover Weekly on Spotify. I have been following his music ever since. Recently, he released a song titled “Winona” which I thought was a great way to close out the show in Minnesota (even if he didn’t know there was a town close by named Winona). It was just two of them on stage, but they made up quite the performance. Yoke Lore’s main instrument is a banjo, which stands out in many of his songs.

Chelsea Cutler

Chelsea Cutler has been releasing music since she was in college. She began by posting covers to Sound Cloud, but moved on to producing her own sound in 2017. She quickly rose, garnering many collabs with big names such as Louis the Child. In 2018, she supported Quinn XCII on his tour, and shortly after she was selling out her own headlining tours. For this tour, she is playing songs from her newest album Stellaria, from which my new personal favorite “Your Bones” is on.

By the time Yoke Lore completed his set, the Palace Theatre was packed and buzzing with anticipation for Chelsea’s set. The majority of the crowd was women, which later on I did find a few male fans singing along to her songs among the crowd. When Chelsea Cutler took the stage, I was absolutely wowed by her production. The set design was fantastic, and right away she was bounding around the stage. You could tell she really loves her fans, as she interacted with them as much as she could, even bringing fans on stage. This was my first time seeing her, and definitely won’t be my last.
