Touring ahead of the release of their much anticipated album “Currents” Australian Psych Rock band Tame Impala transformed First Avenue into a trippy wonderland of light and sound. First Ave was packed and the crowd was clearly there to have a good time. Judging by the smells drifting into the pit fans were clearly looking to enhance visuals and audio.
The band traveled with more gear than I have seen fill up First Ave in a while and their roadies set up the stage wearing white lab coats. Tame Impala took the stage with short intro and then launched into a 10 minute jam of their current single “Let is Happen”. Frontman Kevin Parker was bathed in rapidly changing lights that were also projected behind him.
The set list spanned songs from their about to be released album and classic material. Their sounds flowed smoothly making for an electrifying and enjoyable evening.
Let It Happen
It Is Not Meant to Be
Why Won’t They Talk to Me?
Be Above It
Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind?
Feels Like We Only Go Backwards
Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control
