JoJo Green at the Turf Club – TICKETS

St. Paul’s JoJo Green has a hot, fresh, take on a cozy, nostalgic sound best summarized as “roots fusion.” Lauded as “Bombastic!” by Mostly Minnesota Music, and praised as “…a band to see!” by Americana Highways, this powerhouse fusion band will get you on your feet and leave you wanting more. JoJo Green features rich, agile, and daring trios between their bodacious vocalist, diva, and band leader, Sharisse Germain, cheeky and fearless saxophonist, Zach Miller, and smooth, suave guitarist, Conner Allen, braiding through each performance. The JoJo groove is driven by primal, soulful rhythm provided by drummer Nancy Long and bassist/lead songwriter Scott Yonke. JoJo Green has proudly released two internationally praised independent albums since their inception in 2019, The Summer Tree EP (2022) and The Line LP (2021), and continues to break the mold experimenting, writing, and arranging both grandiose and intimate, peculiar and rich soundscapes.

McNasty Brass Band at the  Turf Club – TICKETS

McNasty Brass Band is a collection of Minneapolis/Saint Paul-based horn players and percussionists that fuse the Minneapolis sound with the spirit of New Orleans. The outcome of this fusion is hard-hitting dance music and high-energy live shows. Each player works tirelessly outside McNasty Brass Band as a sideman, some with national and international touring acts. That’s what makes McNasty special– these youthful but experienced sidemen come together and showcase their compositions, solos, group vocals, and stage presence as frontmen.

Magic City Hippies at  First Avenue – TICKETS

We can all take solace in the simple pleasures awarded us through our senses. Imagine, the memorable clink of ice hitting a rocks glass, the scent of muddled limes and mint, the faint crackle as the tipple is poured, the effervescent fizz of soda about to broach the rim, the straw insertion and swirl, the first sip of vacation…

Life would be miserable without these gifts, and life would most certainly suck without the perfect soundtrack to the first cocktail of some much needed time off. Pop the cork on some Magic City Hippies.

MCH initially floated onto the scene as Robby Hunter Band, yet once their album titled Magic City Hippies dropped, it became clear they had accidentally found their identity through an album title. Renamed in 2015 as Magic City Hippies, the Miami boys tasked themselves with marrying the funk sweat of a midafternoon sail with the syncopated shoulder shimmy of a late night out. They quickly gathered steam and took to gracing stages across the planet, from packed night clubs, to sold-out concert halls, to earning performances at Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza, Magic City Hippies cater to those simply looking to escape with a welcoming, never-haughty, yet delightfully naughty, thwap.

killusonline at the  Entry – TICKETS

killusonline evades categorization. At this point, the hip-hop-turned-hardcore project is well-known within the more adventurous pockets of Minneapolis’ growing underground scene—even gaining some mainstream accolades for their unique sound and electric live performances. As the band begins to expand into the national stage following the release of their sophomore EP, None Like Home, they are keeping to what they do best: providing a visceral musical experience that you can’t get anywhere else.

Armand Hammer at the  Fine Line – TICKETS

Armand Hammer, the groundbreaking NYC rap duo of ELUCID and billy woods, announces its eighth studio album, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips, out September 29 via Fat Possum Records. The duo’s new project arrives two and a half years after Haram, their labyrinthine collaboration with The Alchemist, and is introduced with their lead single “Trauma Mic” featuring Pink Siifu. Produced by DJ Haram, the duo’s visceral new track “snowballs,” Armand Hammer describes, “except instead of snow it’s a neodymium magnet cascading down a mountain of discarded pig iron.”

Following Haram, We Buy Diabetic Test Strips is an entirely different beast, incorporating live instrumentation and featuring an array of producers including JPEGMAFIA, EL-P, Kenny Segal, DJ Haram, Black Noi$e, Preservation, August Fanon, Steel Tipped Dove, Child Actor, and Sebb Bash. Holding true to the sonic identity they’ve successfully cultivated since their 2013 debut, familiar faces like Pink Siifu, Moor Mother, and Curly Castro make contributions, while also bringing new and like-minded peers into the fold, with features from Junglepussy, Moneynicca (of Soul Glo), and Cavalier. Virtuoso jazz musician and celebrated composer Shabaka Hutchings shows up on flute, one of several musicians who sat down with ELUCID and celebrated engineer Willie Green for a jam session in 2022 that helped pour the foundation of this album.
