Joshua Tillman aka Father John Misty as developed a cult following in the Twin Cites (and elsewhere) with his lyrics, his style and his music. His songs will leave you shaking your head in amusement, make you think, and yet get stuck in your head worse than a Britney Spears tune.
Promoting his latest release “I love you Honeybear” he played a sold out First Avenue. In typical Father John Misty fashion, his performance was dramatic, the light was great for the audience (not so much for the photographers, but then there was this big “no photography” sign). Opening with the title track of his new album Tillman kept his audience focused on him. He moves around the stage, jumps on the drum kit, twirls his microphone stand and gets as close to his fans as possible.
Mixing songs from over a decade of material Father John Misty proved what makes his live performances special.
