Weird Al’s Coming To Town! 07/24 At The State Theatre

The one and only “Weird Al” Yankovic will be at the State Theatre on 07/24 with The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour. And the legendary comedian, Emo Philips will be accompanying Al as a special guest. Show starts at 7pm. Tickets are still available HERE

If you are of a certain age, “Weird Al” has been embedded in your awareness of American popular culture for almost as long as you have been aware of the existence of American popular culture.

You may now also be of an age to have children who are discovering Weird Al for the first time, themselves, perhaps via Star Wars.

Thus, Hennepin Theatre Trust may be presenting a unique intergenerational bonding opportunity. There’s no age-rating or advisement in the tour’s PR materials – so parental discretion, and all that.

But heed this BIG FYI, per Al’s tour website:

Please note: this is a scaled-down tour with limited production (no costumes, props, or video screens) in smaller theatres and more intimate settings, and Al’s setlist will be comprised almost entirely of his original (non-parody) songs.

Ahhh, so we should maybe expect things like ‘Weasel Stomping Day’ and ‘Close But No Cigar’…maybe this is more of Parents’ Night Out/Leave the 11 Year Olds at Home event.
