Chazwick Bradley Bundick has been performing as Toro Y Moi since 2008. Originally a solo act, he recently added other musicians (who perform as his opening band under Astronauts etc. moniker). He introduced Toro Y Moi as a band.
Often cited as one of the founders of Chillwave, Toro Y Moi’s set is tight with only short breaks between songs and limited audience interaction. But then the crowd was not here for words of wisdom. It was a rather diverse group of concert goers showing that Toro Y Moi’s recent album is reaching outside their traditional fan base.
“What For?” and especially the single “Empty Nesters” has been getting a good amount of air play on alternative stations. Lights and visuals were interesting, probably a nod to Bundick’s college degree in graphic design.
Overall a great chill, yet lively concert experience that everyone at Mill City Nights appreciated.
