Texas band This Will Destroy You is on a brief tour of the Midwest to support their current record “Another Language”. Their show at the Varsity was well attended.
An instrumental post-rock band, TWDY are known for their buildups to drawn out crescendos. Their set at the Varsity took their fans on a ride through different styles from atmospheric sound to rocking moments. There was little direct interaction between band and crowd, no fancy stage decorations or gimmicks. Lights were well done never distracting. This was about TWDY’s music and not much else. I found it an interesting and quite unique experience and look forward to their return.
