Suzie Record Release at The Icehouse

It was a busy weekend for music and events in the Twin Cities, but one stand out event was Minneapolis’ own Suzie Record Release Show at The Icehouse. Late last month Suzie released their second album, entitled Chardonnay. Suzie (Mark Ritsema’s most current project) was supported by fellow Minneapolis up-and-comers Lovelines.

I first saw Suzie a few winters ago at both The Entry and the First Ave Mainroom, after following one of Ritsema’s former projects. Something about the Suzie live shows are contagiously fun, and Saturday’s Record Release show was no exception. Suzie’s many members barely fit on the small stage at The Icehouse, but they didn’t stop them from knocking their set out of the park. The set mainly featured songs off the new album, as well as few other Suzie bangers. I had made my way down to The Icehouse after an evening of drinking my way through Red Bull Crushed Ice, and Suzie’s low-key psychedelic set was a perfect end to the evening. Be sure to check out their album and stay tuned for more to come.
