The 90’s legends Stereolab will be coming to First Ave on October 5th as part of a major 10 year reunion campaign that will reissue 7 of the bands greatest albums.
After playing their last shows in 2009 the group, headed by Laetitia Sadier and Tim Gane, went on an indefinite hiatus. Sadier and Gane have been busy with their respective projects in the years since Stereolab’s hiatus. Gane has been making music with the band Cavern of Anti-Matter; their last album, Hormone Lemonade, came out in 2018. In 2017, Sadier released the Laetitia Sadier Source Ensemble album Find Me Finding You.
On May 3rd the band reissued their 1993 second album Transient Random Noise-Bursts With Announcements and the influential Mars Audiac Quintet from the following year. The expanded reissues will include limited editions of 500-clear vinyl copies and 250 CDs. Each will come with a hand-numbered strip from the original master-tapes of the accompanying album. These can be pre-ordered from Stereolab’s website.
Following the initial two reissues, three more albums were reissued in August including; Emperor Tomato Ketchup, Dots And Loops and Cobra And Phases Group Play Voltage In The Milky Night. They plan to reissue two more albums, Sound-Dust and Margarine Eclipse in November.
Unfortunately, tickets are sold out to this show, but if you’re offered a pair of them I highly suggest that you swipe them to see such an acclaimed group perform at a legendary venue.
