To kick off the release of her new EP ‘Hotel Colfax‘, Minneapolis based singer-songwriter Stacy K performed a very intimate set at The Icehouse on Tuesday evening. 89.3 The Current claimed her as one of the “Best new acts to keep an eye on”. This couldn’t be more true. One look around the room and the faces of those in attendance really said it all. The set was incredibly captivating and tracks from the new EP were deeply rich. Stacy K was joined on stage with her backing band, the Fontanelles, who delivered with superior quality.

Stacy K’s sound has been often described as quirky, alternative country, and folk-rock pop. Stacy K’s writing and vocal style has been compared to that late-60’s/early-70’s folk sound. With ‘Hotel Colfax’ being the third solo release from Stacy K, it definitely maintains hints of the experimental, quirky movements of her well received previous releases, but also engages to the embrace of warm fuzzed out rock and roll guitars. Hotel Colfax, (titled after the artist home where Stacy previously resided in Uptown, Minneapolis) continues to represent Stacy K’s unique writing style, eloquent and raw approach, and reveals in a snap-shot the transitions life can bring. It truly shows a masterful and artistic combination of Alternative, Electro, and Rock styles.

TwinCitiesMedia.net sat down with Stacy K for an interview before her set. Look for interview video soon. Until then, here are some photos from last night’s EP Release Performance.
