Irish band The Script played to adoring fans at the Myth Sunday evening. The Script just released their fifth Studio Album “Freedom Child” and it became the fourth one of theirs to reach number one on the UK album charts and has done well in the US also. A bit of a change from their previous albums, “Freedom Child” is not afraid to talk about issues that face us as a society and focusing on what binds us together rather than what divides us. The Script is currently on tour in North America promoting their latest album “Freedom Child”.
Manchester native Tom Walker opened the show for the Script Sunday evening. The packed myth was ready for a big night of European pop rock. The lights went down and Tom Walker walked out and started right into his first song “Be Myself”. The fans soon fell in love with the english rocker. Tom played a solid thirty minute set. He played a great eight song set including songs “Fly Away”,”Karma”,”Heartland” and “Rapture”. Tom closed the set with song “Leave the Light On”. I was impressed with energy and technical ability of the Tom Walker band.
The Script came on stage to screaming fans playing “Rock the World”. The energy erupted on stage and the fans went nuts. Lead singer Danny O’Donoghue jumped off the stage after the second song and into the pit to sing to the fans up close. Danny sang “Paint the Town Green” with the fans. The script was playing hits like”Man Who”,”Never Seen Anything’ and “IYCSMS”. The band started playing “The Energy Never Dies” and Danny was missing from the stage. Danny appeared on the second level in the VIP suites to sing “The Energy Never Dies”. Danny made his way thru the Myth singing to reappear on stage. The script played a fantastic sixteen song set closing with “Hall of Fame”. What a fun night watching Tom Walker and The Script perform.
