Ring In October With Suicidal Tendencies 10/1 at First Avenue

The almighty Suicidal Tendencies will be taking over First Avenue on Monday, October 1st. Suicidal Tendencies is an American crossover thrash band formed in 1980 in Venice, California by vocalist Mike Muir, who is the only remaining original member of the band. Along with D.R.I., Corrosion of Conformity, and Stormtroopers of Death, they are often credited as one of “the fathers of crossover thrash”. After a bit of a break, Suicidal Tendencies are back and bring with them a tour and new album! The new album will be the first since the band’s 2016 effort World Gone Mad. Guitarist Jeff Pogan, who appeared on the last disc, left the band earlier this year. He was soon replaced for touring purposes by ex-Dillinger Escape Plan axeman Ben Weinman. The remainder of the band — Mike Muir on vocals, Dave Lombardo on drums, Dean Pleasants on guitar and Ra Diaz on bass — remain intact.

As if seeing Suicidal Tendencies wasn’t enough reason to get you out of the house on a Monday night, let’s throw in the fact that Madball will be opening the show. Maintaining urgency, authenticity and integrity has never been an issue for New York City’s hardest, and hardest working band, Madball. Twenty-five years along as a recording and touring entity, MB brings forth its ninth aural chapter, For the Cause; a signature collection of lionhearted, groove-laden, street-level New York Hardcore as only Madball can bring it. The aptly titled album doesn’t so much revisit where the group has been since 1994 – although Madball released its first EP, Ball of Destruction as a virtual Agnostic Front side-project back in 1989 – but forges forward and represents where the fellas find themselves collectively and personally a quarter-decade down the road.

Tickets are still available here.
