Put on your best ripped blacks. Bust out some eyeliner. Bring a friend. Japan’s own One Ok Rock will be turning Fillmore Minneapolis into a bi-lingual alt-rock riot on Sunday, October 9th with their Luxury Disease Tour. Doors open at 5:30pm for the All Ages event, show starts at 6:30pm. Tickets are still available HERE.
This whirlwind North American tour kicked off on the 19th and takes its name from the band’s tenth studio album, Luxury Disease, which just dropped on September 9th. Minneapolis is stop number 16 of 23 on the intense month-long tour. The new album offers a lot of what fans love, in both Japanese and English, and features some big-name Westerners in collaboration, including Rob Cavallo, Brendon Urie, and Ed Sheeran. Check out the album’s latest single, ‘Save Yourself,’ above.
Where have we seen One Ok Rock before…?
If you caught the two live-action Rurouni Kenshin: Final Chapter films released in 2021, you might already recognize a couple of songs on Luxury Disease: ‘Renegades’ serves as the theme song for Part I –The Final, and ‘Broken Heart of Gold’ appears in Part II – The Beginning.
If you missed their previous North American tours for 35xxxv in 2015 and Eye of the Storm in 2019, you may have bumped into them at a rock festival. They were on the bill for Vans Warped Tour in 2014 and 2019, and have been popping up at other rock fests in the US throughout the last decade.
And if you haven’t yet, check out their Netfilix documentary, Flip a Coin (2021) which takes you behind the scenes of “Field of Wonder” – their live-stream concert held in 2020 during the pandemic lockdown.
Whether you’ve been following One Ok Rock for years, or are just discovering them now – if you have any love in your heart for those alt-rock, sometimes pop-rock, sometimes-emo sounds, you’ll want to witness vocalist Taka, guitarist Toru, drummer Tomoya, and bassist Ryota live and in-person on October 9th.
You Me at Six and Fame on Fire are providing opening support during the tour – unsure who will be on stage with the headliners on the 9th.
