Neck Deep’s Show At The Skyway Saves Us From Thanksgiving Food Coma

There are traditions surrounding thanksgiving that go well beyond the dinner table and the mandatory roast turkey. The night before thanksgiving is one of the busiest of the year for bars with many folks coming home for the holiday and reuniting with friends. Music venues have their own traditions like the Ike Reilly show at First Avenue. Walking up the stairs into the Skyway Theater I could feel the energy of the crowd  before the first band hit the stage.

New York’s Oxymorrons got us off to a fast start with a hard, fast set. Someone did not tell them they were the opener at a 4 band show. Their swagger, sound and stage presence were “headlinerworthy”

Heart Attack Man had just released their new Thoughtz & Prayerz EP. The Cleveland punk band’s set kept he energy in the room alive and well.

But it was Boston Manor who got the crowd really moving. The British band was familiar to many in the crowd and it showed.

Neck Deep’s live shows are something you have to see for yourself. From the first bars fans are singing along and don’t stop until they call for an encore. As an homage to just having “escaped” quarantine Neck Deep’s set was a living room, complete with video games on an old style tube TV. The joy of being able to perform live and tour again has been a constant this fall and Neck Deep clearly felt that way. So I think adding a Neck Deep show to our Thanksgiving traditions would work out nicely for everyone 🙂
