April 2, 2015 — In a very industrial area of Minneapolis sits the Surly Brewing Company. The active brewery is an unsuspecting spot for musical events, however, the location was more than an ideal spot to play host to Maiden Dixie’s Acoustic Release Show. The production unit shaped a nice sized event room into the ideal venue to see the show.

Maiden Dixie’s new album, UNSAFE & SOUND, is set for official release on April 14th. For the acoustic release show, Maiden Dixie arranged a very up close and personal performance for friends, co-writers, special guests, and long time fans. Being an acoustic show definitely did not mean any compromise on the overall performance. In fact, it was the complete opposite. The show was rich in sound and the performance was top notch. Having reviewed several release-type shows, Maiden Dixie raised the bar by delivering a superior performance. The evening was filled with an amazing set, which included acoustic versions of songs off their upcoming CD release. In between songs, the band responded to questions that were written down prior to the shows start and delivered by emcee Tricia Jenkins. As a special treat, each band member took center stage, singing a favorite cover song … and everyone delivered. This included an incredible performance of ‘Ring Of Fire’ by Drew Sherman who doubled on vocals and tuba … yes tuba (the original heavy metal instrument). Special guests Graham Becker, Roy Holdren, and Producer Kevin Bowe joined Maiden Dixie for a few songs.

With Maiden Dixie, one thing is very clear, individually all band members are extremely talented. However, when you combine the lead vocals of Channing Himes and Jesse Becker (and the sweet harmony between them), along with melodic guitar from Jonathan Krentz, the multiple fiddle and mandolin talents of Zachary Scanlan, hammering bass (and tuba) from Drew “Tank” Sherman, and the drum rhythm precision of Tyler Kloewer, it can only equal one thing … AMAZING COUNTRY MUSIC that other artists will yearn to achieve.

Quotes heard from the evening:

“Tearfully good and amazingly sweet”

“I didn’t want the set to end, I wanted to hear more”

“If I had a video of tonight’s performance, I would watch it again … and again”

“WOW … I am floored. When Channing sang ‘Angel By Your Side’, I was in tears”

“Incredible passion with superb delivery”
