Leo Kotke and James McMurtrey Coming To Guthrie November 26


Holidays are the time for traditions.  The Twin Cities music scene has a number that are special.  The traditionally sold out Christmas shows from The New Standards and Bryan Setzer Ochestra.  First Avenue offers up The Replacements Tribute Show and Best New Band Showcase. 

In addition to their annual classic A Christmas Carol, The Guthrie bring us hometown legend Leo Kotke.  No other venue in town offers the intimacy/acoustics his wry wit and playing so richly deserve.

After recording more than 40 albums over four decades, the prolific guitarist Leo Kottke boasts an impressive body of work.  His unrivaled finger-picking style has won him two Grammy nominations and widespread acclaim. Drawing inspiration from folk, blues and jazz, he plays his signature 6-string and 12-string guitars with effortless aptitude, a big heart and an even bigger grin. Joined by revered songwriter James McMurtry, this guitar-playing duo will bring their unique sound to the Guthrie for an extraordinary night of musical storytelling.
