If there was anything to unite metalheads, it’d be one thing…..combine the efforts of Ozzfest, and marry that with Knotfest. Together, you have a super human festival that will be sure to kick your ass with every bleeding decibel that rages through the speakers.

After a press conference held on Thursday (May 12th) at the Palladium in Hollywood, CA, the announcment was officially made that the two festivals would be joining to give fans a weekend of heavy metal goodness that they’ll never forget. The merging of the two festivals will be a 2 day, multi-stage extravaganza consisting of more than 40 acts to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ozzfest, and the continuing growth of Slipknot’s Knotfest, which debuted in 2012. The dates of these events will be Saturday, September 24th, which will feature Ozzfest, and Sunday September 25th, which will be closed out with Knotfest. at the San Manuel Amphitheater and Festival Grounds in San Bernardino, California.

“This could be the one of the coolest things I’ve ever been a part of,” said Corey Taylor. “Starting out as an Ozzfest band, coming into our own with Knotfest and now combining forces to make a little metal history…it was meant to be and I’m proud to be a part of it.”

“The impact of Ozzfest on heavy music and on Slipknot, cannot be underestimated,” said Cory Brennan, president, 5B Artist Management. “For 20 years, Ozzfest has given fans their first glimpse at bands like Slipknot, Disturbed and countless others, but also bringing new fans and bands together every year. Ozzfest inspired Slipknot to continue this vital tradition with Knotfest, and it’s an honor to celebrate our genre alongside them in 2016.”

It’s been nearly 10 years since Ozzfest took the road, making it self a touring festival. The last time this occured was back in 2007 during its “free ticket” year. Since then, the festival has ventured into one off shows here and there, including in Japan and Mexico. Knotfest has enjoyed growing success with a growing fan base in just the 3 years that it has been in existence.

Along with the music and festivals, fans and festival goers will also be able to enjoy a wide variety of attractions throughout the expansive site. Initial onsite daily activities will include a Monster Truck Arena, Carnival Thrill Rides, Massive Fire Displays, Flaming Carnival Games, The Thunderdome Battle Arena, an 85 Person Traveling Troupe of Freaks, a Carnival Midway with Games of Chance, Vendor Village, Food Trucks and Craft Beer, with 50 Foot Tall x 75 Foot Wide Image-Mapped Video Walls flanking the Main Stage.
