Minneapolis Trio Hollow Boys describe their music as “Gloom Pop”. Composed of Ali Jaffar (guitar), Monica Coleslaw (drums) and Cole Benson (bass) they opened for Summer Cannibals at the Entry last Wednesday.
Their set was only 5 songs but they were drawn out and blended into one another (with the occasional 1-2-3-4 from the drummer thrown in). The gloom part was a happy gloom with floating guitar and esoteric vocals. I found their set interesting and well placed between the 2 “punky” bands of the evening.
