Girlpool to play 7th Street Entry

Come see the girls who are restoring our hope in rock music. Philadelphia transplants, by way of Los Angeles, have been taking the scene by storm since their inception as a band back in 2010. The duo will be playing 7th Street Entry on Wednesday, May 31st. Minneapolis is one of many stops in support of their sophomore album Powerplant, out via Anti-Records. Tickets are just $16 in advance and $18 at the door. Grab yours early HERE.

Girlpool is Cleo Tucker (guitar, vocals) and Harmony Tividad (bass, vocals) respectively. The band does not have a drummer, just one of many ways Girlpool’s throws caution to the wind and does things their own way. Since the release of their debut album Girlpool has grabbed the attention of the media and blogosphere alike with their incisive lyrics, soft textures, hushed harmonies, and soaring hooks, which pack a heavy emotional punch. Powerplant  burns with greater fire than the duo have possessed before, confronting projections, despondency, apathy, romanticization, love, and heartbreak with devastating emotional pragmatism, radical vulnerability and honesty. Even the ever allusive Pitchfork had some kind words for Girlpool, “Girlpool’s sound gets bigger on their sophomore LP, but Cleo Tucker and Harmony Tividad’s voices still sit center stage in all their vulnerable glory.” Come see it for youself next Wednesday at The Entry.

Girlpool is supported by fellow East Coasters,  Brooklyn-based Ian Sweet and Baltimore-based Snail Mail.
