Get Teary Eyed With Conor Oberst 9/7 at The Palace Theatre

Notorious sad boy Conor Oberst will be taking over the Palace Theatre in Saint Paul on Thursday, September 7th. Oberst has been releasing music since 1993 and there seems to be no end in sight. With influences that range from The Smiths to Neil Young with a little Fugazi and a little The Cure, Oberst is a legend if you’re part of the scene. Best known for his work as the singer of Bright Eyes, Oberst is a truly talented musician with a knack for some of the most beautiful lyrics. I remember all of my breakups in high school (okay, there were only three of them) by what Bright Eyes song I was listening to at the time. His music is calming and can bring tears to your eyes with it’s beauty, but it has an energy and a sense of raw fierceness that keeps you from wanting to bawl through his shows. Having seen Bright Eyes and Desaparecidos (another one of Oberst’s many musical endeavors), I am definitely excited to see him perform as a solo project.

Phoebe Bridgers will be opening the show for Oberst. I’ve seen her name a lot recently and can’t wait to hear her unique indie-folk/ singer-songwriter music live.

As if being able to see both Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers in the same night isn’t enough to get you out of the house on a Thursday night, let me throw this in–  Conor Oberst has partnered with Plus1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to support Planned Parenthood.

Don’t wait any longer. Snag your tickets here! Bring a pack of tissues and join me for what’s sure to be a beautiful night.
