Austin, Texas legend Gary Clark Jr. is slated for two nights of shows at the newly renovated Palace Theater in St. Paul. Gary Clark Jr. will be stopping by town on August 3rd and 4th. His Friday night show on August 4th is already sold out, but tickets for Thursday are still available HERE.
If you’re not familiar with Gary Clark Jr. you might have been living under a rock for the past few years. Ok kidding. But seriously – Clark is a hard one to miss. His unique sound blends elements from across decades and across genres – blues, soul, rock and plenty of heavy distorted guitars. At just 33 years old, Clark has already built quite the musical resume – a handful of albums, millions of live-streams, a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B performance, and dozens of other accolades from a variety of outlets. That’s the thing about Clark that is so special – his appeal is so broad. I remember my dad, who grew up on The Marshall Tucker Band, The Eagles, Alabama and other Southern Rock, telling me about Gary Clark Jr. after seeing him on Austin City Limits. An old friend of mine who loved more modern rock and R&B also raved about Clark after catching him at Bonnaroo a few summers ago. He’s a true blue Americana rock-n-roll artist, no frills, no nonsene just solid music. Something we don’t see enough of these days.
