Flagship at the Varsity Theater – 7/14/2015

Charlotte, NC band Flagship is quite serious about their lyrics. Many of their YouTube vids incorporate them in the visuals and reading them shows the thought behind the words. Opening for Good Old War the 5 man band played the Varsity Theater last Tuesday. Their brand new EP “Faded” was just released on July 10 and is available on Google Play, Amazon, and Itunes
Attendance was light but Flagship captured the audience and by the middle of their set most of the audience was close to the stage. As the band was competing with the Varsity’s super comfy leather couches, that is no small feat.
Centered on singer Drake Margolnick the 5 piece band is known for its soaring sounds that build into beautiful crescendos. They are technically quite good and cohesive and the combination of their skills with the emotional sound makes for a great show. Margolnick ventured into the audience a couple of times. This was the first time they played their new song “I want you” live.

Overall, Flagship was my favorite of the 3 acts that evening and I think we will be seeing quite a bit more of them in the near future.
