The one and only D.O.A will be performing at The Turf Club on Monday, July 16th for a can’t miss show. D.O.A., Canada’s legendary pioneering punks who set the bar high for punk and basically invented hardcore, are ready to rip it up on the occasion of their 40th anniversary. They have a brand new album: Fight Back and they are embarking on a worldwide tour to support this impressive new effort. The Men of Action are ready to take on all opposition and lay down a punk rock path of wild music and free thought. Their rough and ready line up is led by the godfather of Hardcore, Joe Shithead Keithley (guitar, vocals) he is more than ably accompanied by the manic rhythm section of Paddy Duddy (drums) and Corkscrew (bass).
D.O.A will be joined by The Turbo A.C.’s. The world is on the brink. The brink of what? Everything bad? Lead singer Kevin Cole has narrowly escaped his collapsing home of New York City to Puerto Rico, only to have his punk rock pizza shop choked & drowned by Hurricane Maria. What better time and place to write the perfect surf laden punk rock record for a new generation of kids who despise the government, their parents, and each other? What better person than Kevin Cole to lead the way? The battle-scarred rock n roll stalwart who’s had every shitty hand life can deal and still ends up on a beach like Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption! Enter: Radiation-perhaps the most pronounced rock n’ roll document since The Ramones, with classic outcast hooks like “there’s something wrong with everyone I see, but baby, there’s nothin’ wrong with me!” Radiation will sweep the land, the kids will be infected, and The Turbo AC’s will be the cockroach that just keeps charging in a time when there are no signs of life.
Local group Ripper will kick the night off. Ripper consists of a few guys from the Minneapolis/Saint Paul who enjoy the finer things in life such as eating, drinking, sleeping, and punk rock.
