Following the refined act of Lucius, Aussie rocker Courtney Barnett was like a giant bucket of ice water dumped on the Rock the Garden crowd chilling in the sun. Couture was replaced by black jeans and t-shirts, harmonies by guitar riffs and lyrics you have to pay attention to. Folk knew they had been doused and they were loving it.
Barnett has been described as “Australia’s millennial answer to Bob Dylan” has burst onto the music scene with her debut album “Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit”. Her lyrics are quirky, rambling and funny. Her set was well delivered and straight forward. A girl, her guitar, 2 cool dudes in her band and smoke, lot’s of smoke!
