New Zealand brother/sister duo Broods’ tour stopped at First Avenue Tuesday night. Promoting their new album “Conscious” their early show filled the venue with an all ages crowd while it was still light out.

Australian singer/songwriter/producer Jarryd James drew quite a few fans for his opening set. He and Broods recently collaborated on  “1000x” and Georgia Nott joined him on stage for that number. James’ signature falsetto voice and songs from his debut album “High” delivered a powerful performance. We had a chance to interview Jarryd last year – check it out HERE

Set List: Can’t Help / Calm My Love / How do we Make It / Burning Out / Sure Love / 1000x (with Broods) / Give me Something / High / Do you Remember

Broods took to the stage with a long bass drone and started the first song in darkness. From there it was pretty much dazzling and spectacular lights. Augmented by a drummer and a keyboard player, Caleb ruled a throne of synths leaving Georgia Nott free reign of the front half of the stage. She certainly took advantage of the real estate, constantly moving from side to side. There were a couple of costume changes from a fringed cape for the opening song, to a black outfit to white after their 2 song acoustic set. The setlist was heavy towards their current release. Fitting a great concert the encore was almost triumphant and let fans out in the evening.

Set List: Intro / Conscious / Hold the Line / Everytime / Never Gonna Change / Bedroom Door / Freak of Nature / All of your Glory / Taking you There / Recovery / Are you Home / Heartlines / Pretty Thing / LAF / We had everything / Full Blown Love / Mother and Father / Free   Encore: Four Walls / Bridges / Couldn’t Believe
