The Hug of Thunder Tour will be rolling through Saint Paul on Thursday, September 28th and making a stop at The Palace Theatre. Broken Social Scene (who is headlining the tour) is more of a collective than a band and that’s why seeing them live is always exciting. You never quite know what you’re going to get. Is it going to be a six piece? Maybe a twenty member band? Who knows and who cares! With so many members (at times), there are too many influences to list. This creates a truly unique sound and is one of the reasons I fell in love with this group. Much like you never know how many people will be performing, you also don’t quite know what type of music you’re going to get. Is it going to be heavy hitting rock? Or a bit calmer of a show? Again, regardless, who cares! This indie rock band based out of Canada is one of those groups that never seems to get old. Having been a group since 1999 and with their revolving door of truly talented musicians, Broken Social Scene is a force to be reckoned with with the indie-rock scene. Their newest release (and namesake for this tour) “The Hug Of Thunder” just came out this past July and has been getting a lot of buzz in the blogosphere. I’m excited to hear them play these new songs live but am also super excited to hear some older songs that found their way into the soundtrack of my life. Being their first tour in six years, this is definitely a can’t miss show!
Scotland based Frightened Rabbit will be opening up the show. They have been on my bucketlist for some time now and I’m super excited to finally cross them off. With a pure indie-rock sound and a supposedly highly energetic live show, Frightened Rabbit should be the perfect opening act to an perfect evening.
Feel free to join me! Tickets are still available here.
