On August 14, the Phipps Center for the Arts will host the first ever Phipps Fest, a summer outdoor concert to be held at the bandshell in Lakefront Park in Hudson, WI, just outside the Phipps Center. The day-long concert will feature four musical acts, headlined by Wisconsin’s most famous rock band, the BoDeans. Latin Swing band Charanga Tropical, the bluegrass group Monroe Crossing, and soulful singer-songwriter Annie Mack are also scheduled to perform.

Phipps Executive Director Darby Lunceford says “Phipps Fest represents a return to full programming for the center, kicking off the upcoming season with an epic outdoor concert designed to evoke a summer music festival feel. As The Phipps Center is closed for renovations over the summer, we felt using the bandshell right outside the center was a great way to bring people back together in an outdoor format after such a long hiatus.”

Lunceford continues, “a priority for us in creating this event was to keep it free so that anyone can participate. We wanted to offer something unique and surprising, an amazing collection of artists that would not be expected at a free concert in Hudson. The incredible support of sponsors like Citizens Bank and individual donations are invaluable in making Phipps Fest possible.”

Phipps Fest is a free concert for the community celebrating live performances and benefiting The Phipps. Support for the concert and The Phipps can be made by becoming a Phipps Fest Promoter. Tax deductible promoter level memberships are per individual, starting at $20 for one membership that comes with several exclusive benefits, primarily early entry into the concert seating area before the general public.  To become a Phipps Fest Promoter and get early, priority seating, click HERE.

The music starts at 3:30 pm and runs until 10 pm.  More details can be found on The Phipps website at ThePhipps.org.
