Promoting their new release album “Depression Cherry” Baltimore Shoegaze duo Beach House played the first of two scheduled shows at First Avenue Tuesday Night. Some tickets for Wednesday night’s show are still available HERE.

Should you go? If you are into Dream Pop / Shoegaze music – absolutely! If you are there to take pictures or video? Don’t unless you are really (and I mean REALLY) into silhouette shots. The majoritiy of their lights are back lighting and while it looks cool to the audience and adds to the overall feel, getting pretty mobile phone pictures are not on the band’s list of top priorities. Singer Victoria Legrand stated between songs “Don’t turn on the lights, I want to talk in the dark”.

But let’s talk about important part – the music. Their set mixed tracks from “Depression Cherry” and their previous albums and created a dreamy atmosphere. The sound was solid and filled a sold out First Avenue. It was easy to close ones eyes and get lost in Legrand’s vocals or Alex Scally’s guitar. Crescendos were met with screams from the audience.

To sum it up: A shoegazer’s dream show. Go get your tickets for tonight!
