Alter Bridge made a stop at The Skyway Theater in Minneapolis, MN on Wednesday, September 28th. Judging by the number of people that filled the venue, there were many that were looking forward to this show. I arrived at the Skyway around half an hour after the doors opened and there was still a little wait to get in. Once I got inside, I was happy to see the amount of people that came out in support! The number of people kept growing throughout the night as well.
3 Pill Morning was up first and started a little before the posted start time of 8:00, so I was glad I was able to make it when I did! I was excited to see some of their newer material live and 3PM didn’t disappoint. They rocked the stage and kept people entranced during their performance. It was great to catch 3PM live again and I suggest you do the same if they stop at a venue near you!
Next up was Adelitas Way. I saw these guys earlier this year at a smaller venue, so it was nice to see they seem to be gaining popularity over the year. I have to laugh when I see them live and see what new tricks the lead singer does with the mic cord. You’d have to see them live to know what I mean. Speaking of which, they have a few more dates touring with Alter Bridge, so you still have time to catch them!
After a pause for dramatic effect, Alter Bridge took the stage. This was my first time seeing them live and to be honest I was concerned about how Myles’ voice would hold out with how he sings on the albums. However, he was spot on and sounded just like the recording even toward the end of the set. Alter Bridge played a lot of the crowd favorites, but I think every song they played was met with cheers anyway! My only complaint about their set was that the drummer was hidden in the shadows the entire set as it seemed there were no lights pointed in the area he was, but that’s from a photographer’s perspective. After my three songs, I spent a lot of time in the balcony area watching people enjoying the show and singing along, (and waiting to see if the lighting improved to get a shot of the drummer!). As I was walking out, I notice that everyone was inside watching the show and hardly anyone was in the bar areas! Closing out the show, they played their recent single, “Show Me A Leader”, during their encore. All in all, it was a great time and I enjoyed seeing Alter Bridge live for the first time!
Another great show done and hopefully the Skyway keeps the shows coming! My Facebook feed was full of videos and photos of the show and the people there having a great time, which is usually a sign that every was happy with the show!
As always, get out and support live music and I’ll see you out there!
