20 Years of Desire & 15 Years of Preserverance Tour feat Hatebreed Stopping By First Ave 3/21

I know that Hatebreed has a history of coming to the Twin Cities a lot but their stop at First Avenue on Wednesday, March 21st will be my first time seeing them. Yeah, I’m super excited for this. Since 1994, the Connecticut quintet—Jamey Jasta [vocals], Chris Beattie [bass], Wayne Lozinak [guitar], Frank Novinec [guitar], and Matthew Byrne [drums]—has risen to the ranks of hardcore and heavy metal elite with a GRAMMY Award nomination, main stage slots on festivals, and countless fans worldwide. 2013’s The Divinity Of Purpose earned their highest entry on the Billboard Top 200, bowing at #17 with impressive first-week sales in excess of 17,000. When it came time to return to the studio after two years on the road, Jasta and his cohorts clung to the bedrock on which their legacy stands firm. “There’s nothing better than loud amps in the face, cranked up riffs that hit you right in the chest and lyrics that spark a new thought and give you a charge,” he declares. “That’s our musical DNA. We could just be who we are. We don’t need to incorporate whatever the trend is. We can just be Hatebreed. There are some new highlights to the game, but you know it’s us.”

As if seeing Hatebreed wasn’t good enough, let’s go over the amazing openers quick.

Crowbar- For nearly three decades, the name Crowbar has been synonymous with HEAVY. Since rising ominously from the swamplands of New Orleans in 1990, they’ve been hailed internationally as one of the world’s foremost purveyors of crushing, melodic sludge. Crowbar’s eleventh and latest album, The Serpent Only Lies, is both an affirmation of the band’s staying power and a nod to their legacy.

The Acacia Strain- East Coast alternative metal ensemble the Acacia Strain utilize a bone-crushing rhythm section, apocalyptic samples, and a unique triple-guitar assault to deliver their signature blend of hardcore, noise, and death and doom metal. Formed in Springfield, Massachusetts in 2001, the group consisted of guitarists Chris Daniele, Daniel Daponde, and Daniel Laskiewitz, vocalist Vincent Bennett, bass player Karrie Whitfield, and drummer Ben Abert.

Twitching Tongues- Twitching Tongues are the best kind of sore thumb. While channeling a variety of hardcore and metal influences their unique sound is esoteric and resists lazy classification, yet it is equally dynamic, powerful, and instantly gripping. Having dropped two full-lengths, toured extensively and garnered a cult following, the band’s third album – and Metal Blade debut – Disharmony sees them truly come into their own.
