Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the Cities 97.1 Basilica Block Party will pull out all the stops this year. Taking place on Friday 7/12 and Saturday 7/13 they are bringing a nice mix of Grammy winners (as in 2 days ago) and local artists and old time favorites (Yes, kids Hanson is an old time favorite). The Basilica Block Party began in 1995 as a fundraiser to help pay for the $9.5 million structural restoration of The Basilica of Saint Mary, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Proceeds from the event fund the continued renovation of The Basilica. These critical and prudent investments preserve and protect our historic landmark church today and help to avoid the huge costs of emergency repairs. In addition, 5 percent of all proceeds are designated for the St. Vincent de Paul outreach program to serve those in need.
