Tweedy at First Avenue 3/8/2015

Tweedy is the recently launched collaboration of Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco and Uncle Tupelo fame) and his son Spencer Tweedy (on drums). Their album Sukierae was release in 2014. Sunday they stopped at a close to sold out First Avenue after an interview at local public radio station the Current.

Opening  with Fake Fur Coat the band played mostly songs from Sukierae with a few Wilco and other covers thrown in. There was a Jeff Tweedy acoustic set and an extended encore.

Jeff’s stage presence showed his experience while Spencer appears quiet letting his drums speak for him. At one point between songs Jeff got distracted by the smell of Pizza asking if First Ave got a new pizza oven as this was not a smell the remembered here. He also recalled Wilco’s last stop at First Avenue where food was constantly run through the pit in front of the stage. The audience seemed to have a good time overall.
