Fresh off the release of their sixth album, The Maine is currently in the middle of a massive headlining tour with support from Beach Weather and The Mowglis. The North American leg of the Lovely Little Lonely tour wraps up right here in Minneapolis on May 8th at The Skyway Theater. Tickets are only still available, but going quickly HERE.
The Maine, on one hand, is one of those quintessential mid-2000s bands. There’s a twinge of nostalgia every time I hear frontman John O’Callaghan’s voice, mostly reminding me of my painfully awkward teenage years. However, on the other hand- unlike many of those Warped Tour-esque band from the mid-to-late 2000s, The Maine has stayed incredibly relevant. With ten years under their belt as a band, The Maine is showing no signs of slowing down. With each album this band seems to push themselves to the next level. They are continually challenging the boundaries and elements of genre and songwriting and the product is something heartfelt, relevant and deeply engaging. It’s not easy to be bored with The Maine, they are always doing something different. Their most recent album Lovely Little Lonely is no exception. This album is incredibly polished from top to bottom. Perhaps The Maine’s best work yet, Lovely Little Lonely is an album that reflect just how far these guys have come both musically and as a band since their inceptions almost a decade ago.
Ahead of the tour, we caught up with bassist Garrett Nickelsen to discuss The Maine’s 10 years as a band, the new album, growing up and what the future holds for the kings of Phoenix, Arizona’s colorful music scene. From our conversation with Nickelsen, the Lovely Little Lonely tour is sure to bang – featuring plenty of tracks off the new album as well as some favorites from the previous albums. This is one show you are not going to want to miss this spring! Come help The Maine close out the North American leg of the Lovely Little Lonely tour May 8th at The Skyway Theater!
