Space Monkey Mafia To Play The Cabooze on 4/26

Space Monkey Mafia is perhaps the most unexpected new band to come out of the Twin Cities in recent memory. The band was formed in late 2016 after band members Blake Foster (guitar), Riley Jacobson (drums) and Joe Barren (bass) met at the late McNally Smith School of Music. The group later acquired Tim Kingstrom (saxophone) and Dante Leyva (lead vocals and saxophone). All members hail from Minneapolis, Minnesota and its surrounding areas.

The band refers to themselves as a “hodge podge,” but feel as if a fan at a show in their college town of Winona, Minnesota hit it on the head when they described the band as an “anti-capitalist, brass punk” group. The band has quickly established a buzz around their crafty songwriting, tight vocal harmonies and horn section, and their energetic, danceable live performances. Space Monkey Mafia’s debut album, “Sorry For Your Time” was released in March of 2018 to a packed crowd in Minneapolis, and the band has been touring in support of it ever since. With over 150 shows played in under two years of performing, the band has no plans of slowing down and are currently writing their next record, with a spring tour and summer of festival dates on the horizon.

Appearing with Space Monkey Mafia are the Von Tramps, Bluehound and Flip Rushmore. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the show starts at 8:00 pm.
