Snow Tha Product Destroys Fine Line And Leaves No Survivors

I was completely out of my element when I got in line for the show last night and honestly, I was beyond annoyed. The young crowd was turnt (at least that’s what I think the kids are saying these days) and ready to party. I was tired and ready for bed but something made me stick through the exhaustion. I may not have known exactly what I was getting into for the night but I knew it was something I didn’t want to miss.

After some beats from a DJ, it wasn’t long before opening act James Elizabeth took the stage. Before the sold out audience even got a glimpse of the beautiful James Elizabeth, we were introduced to her two amazing dancers and I was instantly sold on whatever her set was going to hold. The dancers did their thing before the songstress appeared in the stage and whisked the audience away into a hot sweaty mess. James Elizabeth’s set may have been ridiculously short but it definitely packed a punch. Showing off some of the collaborations she has done with everyone from Snoop Dogg to E-40, there’s no denying this woman’s talent.

Up next was a collaborative effort between Jandro and Castro Escobar. The high bar that James Elizabeth had set when it came to energy was somehow raised as soon as these two men took the stage. Although both were on stage at the same time, the set seemed split and kicked off with Jandro behind the microphone. Hailing from Albuquerque, NM, Jandro explained that he was there to put Albuquerque on the map and he wanted to see if the audience could put the Twin Cities on the map. Well the audience did that and then some. With each break between songs came a wave a energy from the audience that left me absolutely stunned for some reason. I think it was the way the crowd could go from being so incredibly rowdy during the songs to so damn polite between. From the roar of applause to the whispered ‘excuse me’s’ from people trying to move around the packed venue, I’m not quite sure how to put the atmosphere into words but I know that I absolutely loved it.

With Jandro still on the stage, Castro Escobar took the microphone and continued what Jandro had started. Both of the men had an undeniable sense of energy about them and a way with the crowd. Although I question how much of their performance (along with the performance from James Elizabeth) was actually live and not just pre-recorded and lip synced over, I loved their fun-loving vibe. There was something so real about both of these men that came through crystal clear when it came to their music. Playful when it came to the audience, they came off as two guys that truly did want you to come back to the merch table and chat with them, take a picture with them (and adding and tagging it to Instagram), and just hang out. I was thoroughly impressed with their energy and vibe.

Headlining the sold out show was the one and only Snow Tha Product. Snow has been buzzing for some time now and, although she has been to the Twin Cities multiple times, Monday night’s show was my first chance to catch her. A bit weary that she would just be lip syncing like the previous acts, I kept my guard up but instantly lost it when she jumped into her set. I was instantly in awe of how fast this woman could rap. Full disclosure, I didn’t know much of Snow’s material prior to walking into Monday night’s show. I had seen a couple music videos from her that had me in love with the woman. She isn’t afraid to be a strong and powerful woman in a male dominated scene and, for that, I truly adore her. That vibe came off loud and clear last night as she absolutely destroyed the stage leaving everyone in the room left in shambles behind her. Unrelenting and aggressive while not being afraid to have a bit of a sensitive side that popped through here and there, her set was unpredictable, energetic, and, well, downright amazing.

I was stunned not only by Snow’s talent behind the microphone but also the way she had the audience in the palm of her hand. The excited crowd was eating up every single word that Snow was spitting and I’m pretty sure there wasn’t a single person standing still. Hell, I may have not known a single word from her songs but I couldn’t help but start bouncing around to the infectious beats. Part of me was at last night’s concert just to try and figure out why Snow Tha Product has been buzzing so hard lately. That was answered within the first song and to say that I went from an observer to a fan in a matter of seconds wouldn’t be all that dramatic.

Don’t get stuck in a scene and don’t let people form an opinion for you. If something intrigues you, go check it out and see it for yourself. Snow Tha Product definitely isn’t my typical cup of tea but after seeing her perform live, I am absolutely in love. Go fall in love with something new.
