If you are in the mood for some progressive Metal next Tuesday’s show at the Varsity is a must see. Promoting their new album “Periphery III: Select Difficulty” Washington, DC’s Periphery will play as part of their Sonic Unrest tour supported by Chon and Toothgrinder.
Also supporting them is the band that is credited as founding fathers of the genre SikTh. Actually cited by the tour’s headliner as their major influence, SikTh is one of the cornerstone bands, who, perhaps unknowingly, helped launch the ‘djent’ guitar tone. The group formed in 1999, and this summer’s tour marks their very first shows on this side of the Atlantic. Spending the better part of 2008-2014 on hiatus, the band returned publicly headlining the Red Bull Stage at England’s massive Download Festival in 2014. This past December, SikTh released a 6-track offering on Peaceville Records called ‘Opacities’.
