New Found Glory

Coral Springs, Florida band New Found Glory broke into the mainstream as part of the early-2000s wave of pop-punk acts, rising to the upper tier of the genre alongside Good Charlotte and Saves the Day. Their breakthrough third album, Sticks and Stones, peaked at number four on the U.S. charts in 2002, only to be bested two years later by their Top Three effort Catalyst. Even though the scene had veered in a more hardcore direction by the end of the decade, NFG maintained their fast-paced momentum into the 2010s, scoring U.S. indie chart-toppers in 2009 (Not Without a Fight) and 2017 (Makes Me Sick).

The band was formed in mid-1997 by vocalist Jordan Pundik, bassist Ian Grushka, drummer Joe Moreno (replaced by longtime drummer Cyrus Bolooki after the group’s first release), and guitarists Chad Gilbert (previously the vocalist for Shai Hulud) and Steve Klein. Having recently graduated from high school, the bandmates wasted little time in amassing a cult following. Renowned for their energetic live shows, New Found Glory toured up and down the East Coast in the late ’90s, selling out the entire pressing of their 1997 debut EP, It’s All About the Girls, along the way.

Simple Plan

New Found Glory will have support from fellow pop-punk icons Simple Plan. Simple Plan, the multi-platinum Montreal-based band, boasts worldwide sales topping 10 million. Accolades include a 2005 Teen Choice Award, 2006 JUNO Fan Choice Award, 2012 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award, 2012 Yahoo! Canadian Impact Award, 2012 NRJ award and the 2013 Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award. Also, They have played at some of the music industry’s most prestigious events like the 2010 Winter Olympics closing ceremony, the 2004 Live 8 benefit concert, the MTV Music Awards as well as multiple TV appearances on shows like The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 2008 NHL All-Star Game and 2015 NHL Winter Classic game where they sang the Canadian National Anthem and the Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade, among others.

Hot Mulligan

Michigan’s upper peninsula is trapped under what seems like permafrost for most of the year. This chilling effect makes the landmass more comfortable with stationary lives rather than lives spent outside its natural sprawl. Hot Mulligan may have been born in this green giant, but they escaped its clutches shortly after high school to beat pavement and their own neuroses-at the same time. Since 2014, the five-piece has gained ground for their earnest approach to songwriting, melding together the ferocious riffs of pop punk’s latest wave with the tenacious vulnerability of indie rock. The marriage is one shared by many bands, but on Opportunities – their latest EP earning a re-release via No Sleep Records – the courtship entangles itself in new territories, mostly in those characterized by cavernous percussion, hooks so buoyant they bob up and down, and guitar and synth interplay that belong to a much older, bolder band. The future is full of other excuses to keep moving, and for Hot Mulligan, they’re easily jumping at the chance to speed up.

Face coverings are strongly recommended for fans who are not fully vaccinated, unless actively eating or drinking, per CDC guidelines.
