Next month, The State of Hockey will have plenty of on ice action to look forward to with the 2019-2020 hockey season kicking off. Part of the fun will be welcoming back the Minnesota Whitecaps, who are just coming off a prosperous year winning the Women’s National Hockey League championship their first year in the league. They start their season October 12th-13th, with back to back home games against the Metropolitan Riveters. The team looks forward to building on their success and defending their Isobel Cup championship.
If you are interested in following the Minnesota Whitecaps this season, or are interested in purchasing tickets, schedule and availability for the season are available on the Whitecaps website.
Based in the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area, The Minnesota Whitecaps were established in 2004, but only recently became a member of the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) last year in 2018. The Whitecaps team consists of talented women’s hockey players from all around the world, including China. The team plays their home games at the TRIA Rink in Saint Paul, the practice rink of the Minnesota Wild.
The Whitecaps are the only team to have won both a Clarkson Cup and a Isobel Cup championship, the two major championships in professional women’s hockey in North America winning the Clarkson Cup in 2010 as a member of the WWHL and the Isobel Cup in 2019 in their inaugural season in the NWHL.
