Kick your weekend off with Waxahatchee at the Triple Rock, 7/21

Every so often you get the opportunity to see a band at the most perfect timing. They’re not completely unknown that you have to explain who they are. They’re not so huge that you don’t get to witness them in a more intimate venue. Well Minneapolis, you have that chance next Friday, July 21st at the Triple Rock Social Club. Birmingham, Alabama based Waxahatchee is stopping by the Twin Cities in support of her fourth-studio album Out in the Storm. Tickets are just $15 and still available HERE.

Waxahatchee aka Katie Crutchfield gets her name from the Waxahatchee Creek in Alabama. Crutchfield is no stranger to the music scene, having been actively making music since 2010. Crutchfield got her start as a member of P.S. Eliot – a band she started with her twin sister Allison Crutchfield. Since venturing out on her own solo project, Waxahatchee has been turning out album pretty consistently. There’s a brooding depth to her music – music that touches on themes so common to the human experience. Things relatable on a visceral level – relationship, heartbreak, loss, devastation. Out in the Storm touches on many of those same themes we’ve heard from Crutchfield but with a new voice, a new strength. Her album is already receiving high praise from The Fader, Pitchfork and NPR. This is one show of the summer you are seriously not going to want to miss.

The Twin Cities is just one of many stops on her summer tour. Waxahatchee will be supported at the Triple Rock by Philadelphia trio Cayetana and Baltimore up-and-comer Snail Mail. We fell in love with Snail Mail earlier this summer at The Entry and can’t wait to have all these great bands in the Twin Cities!
